Position Summary:
The General Foreman - Sheet Metal is responsible for leading the installation, welding, and assembly of sheet metal ductwork and enclosures for ultra-high-purity (UHP) air and chemical distribution systems in advanced semiconductor cleanroom facilities.
This position oversees multiple foremen and craft crews, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA, SEMI, SMACNA, NFPA, and project-specific standards. The role requires expertise in cleanroom sheet metal systems, fabrication, and installation, along with strong leadership to manage labor, schedules, and cross-trade coordination.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and direct multiple foremen and craft crews (sheet metal technicians, welders, and fabricators) across cleanroom bays. Plan and allocate manpower, materials, and equipment to meet production goals and critical tool installation milestones. Enforce strict compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, SEMI (S2, S6, F15), SMACNA, NFPA, and project-specific safety and quality protocols. Lead daily toolbox talks, JSAs, and field inspections; initiate corrective actions as needed. Manage permit-to-work systems, including hot work, confined space, and LOTO protocols for ductwork and cleanroom enclosures. Review and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and 2D/3D models for precise fabrication and installation. Oversee welding, assembly, and installation quality, ensuring alignment with project specifications. Maintain quality documentation, including weld maps, fabrication logs, and turnover packages. Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to close punch lists and achieve first-pass yield metrics. Provide daily progress reports, manpower forecasts, and look-ahead schedules to project management. Represent CAM in client walk-downs, audits, and cross-trade coordination meetings. Qualifications:
5+ years of industrial or high-tech construction experience, with strong focus on sheet metal/ductwork installation in semiconductor or pharmaceutical cleanrooms. 2-5+ years in a supervisory role (Foreman, General Foreman, or Superintendent). Strong knowledge of SEMI, SMACNA, NFPA, and project-specific cleanroom standards. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and 2D/3D models. Proven track record managing multi-trade crews across multiple work fronts. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. OSHA 30 required; NCCER or equivalent certifications preferred. Working Conditions:
Work performed in semiconductor cleanroom environments, fabrication areas, and active construction zones. Physically capable of climbing, lifting, kneeling, crawling, and performing repetitive motions as required. Frequent walking and inspections across the site, including exposure to noise, height, and variable weather. Must be able to wear PPE (bunny suits, respirators, gloves, face shields, etc.) for cleanroom and fabrication tasks. Flexibility to work extended hours, off-shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs to meet critical tool start-up milestones.
