The Treasurer is the financial steward of Havenlight House, responsible for ensuring proper management of the organization’s finances. The Treasurer oversees budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance, and works closely with the Executive Director and Board Chair to safeguard the financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities: Financial Oversight Review monthly or quarterly financial statements and present summaries to the board. Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with applicable federal and Texas nonprofit financial requirements. Oversee preparation of the annual budget in partnership with the Executive Director. Monitor cash flow and financial sustainability during the startup phase. Reporting & Compliance Ensure timely filing of required documents, including IRS Form 990 and Texas state nonprofit filings. Assist in preparation for audits or financial reviews. Maintain transparency with the board regarding the organization’s financial position. Board Support Serve as chair of the Finance Committee (if formed). Provide financial guidance to board members to support decision-making. Train and inform new board members on financial responsibilities. Fundraising & Resource Development Support fundraising activities by advising on financial implications. Assist in identifying sustainable funding opportunities to support Havenlight House’s growth. Ensure financial accountability in donor stewardship. Qualifications: Experience in finance, accounting, or business management strongly preferred. Familiarity with nonprofit financial management is an asset. Commitment to Havenlight House’s mission and startup growth. Ability to dedicate approximately 2–4 hours per month to board duties, including quarterly meetings, review of financial documents, and occasional fundraising or compliance activities. Term: Elected by the Board of Directors. Serves a term of 2–3 years, with the possibility of re-election (as specified in bylaws).
