Perform professional accounting work at a basic to intermediate level, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Assemble and analyze financial data, prepare statements and internal reports, and support departmental budgets. VSU will not sponsor H‑1B visa petitions until further notice. Responsibilities
Monitor revenue and expenses for departmental accounts (20%). Construct spreadsheet applications and prepare data for finance, student accounts, and HR systems (15%). Coordinate preparation of regular and special reports (15%). Review and approve expenditures, personnel, and purchasing documents to ensure potential funding (15%). Analyze, reconcile, and maintain accounting records; develop budgets and special financial reports (15%). Prepare, review, and process budget, revenue, expense, payroll, student account, and correcting entries; support bank reconciliations (10%). Train department staff on finance policies, procedures, and funding requirements (5%). Assist in audit activities as assigned (5%). Supervisor Expectations
Demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, particularly governmental accounting. Exhibit strong organizational skills and a customer‑service orientation in a fast‑paced environment. Maintain a high degree of accuracy, initiative, and adaptability. Apply detailed analytical skills and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Make independent decisions, self‑motivate, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively in business English and throughout office systems. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least one year of related professional experience. Compensation
