Engineering Assistant

A long-standing manufacturing organization is seeking a
Engineering Assistant
to support Sales, Engineering, and Production teams in the quoting, cost estimation, and order processing of fabricated products and assemblies.
The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of metal fabrication processes, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and experience breaking down assemblies into material, labor, and machine cost elements.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings and assemblies to determine raw material needs, labor hours, and machining requirements.
Create and maintain
Bills of Materials (BOMs) .
Research and source pricing for steel, components, supplies, and outside vendor services.
Collaborate with engineering, production planning, and sales to collect information needed for accurate cost estimates.
Work with vendors to confirm pricing and delivery timelines.
Enter and maintain data in manufacturing or ERP systems.
Assist with quoting and order processing workflow.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of
fabrication and manufacturing processes , including:
Plasma/laser cutting
Press brake forming
Machining
Welding & assembly
Quality control practices
Ability to
read and interpret steel and pipe fabrication drawings .
Experience creating
Bills of Materials
and performing cost estimating.
Ability to
source raw materials
and work with supplier pricing.
Comfortable using manufacturing software / ERP systems and performing data entry.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
