creates simple, relevant, and effective learning experiences
for our ACU associates. We have a strong team of trainers and instructional designers who are focused on developing our associates. We are looking to add to the team.
That’s where you come in! This Learning and Development Specialist will help design, develop, and implement cutting‑edge training programs that build competence and confidence in our associates. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team that creates learning solutions to build knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Essential Functions & Core Duties The Learning & Development Specialist II plays a key role in designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions that build organizational capability and enhance employee performance. This role partners with leaders, subject matter experts, and business partners to assess training needs, implement effective learning programs, and evaluate their impact. The Specialist II is a mid‑level position requiring demonstrated experience in instructional design, facilitation, and project management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities Learning Design & Development
Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify organizational learning priorities.
Design, develop, and update engaging learning programs using instructional design best practices (classroom, e‑learning, blended).
Ensure training content is aligned with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and adult learning principles.
Leverage technology and learning platforms (LMS, eLearning authoring tools, collaboration tools) to create scalable solutions.
Facilitation & Delivery
Facilitate interactive training sessions (in‑person and virtual) for employees at all levels.
Support onboarding programs, professional development workshops, and compliance training.
Program Management & Evaluation
Manage assigned L&D projects from concept through delivery, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs using surveys, assessments, and performance metrics; provide recommendations for improvement.
Maintain and report on training metrics using Smartsheet Dashboards to measure impact and ROI.
Partner with various Business Partners, department leaders, and SMEs to customize training solutions that meet business needs.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of organizational learning strategies.
Other Duties & Responsibilities (Optional)
40% -- Design and develop learning solution, including eLearning, instructor‑led training, distance learning, blended learning, etc.
20% -- Collaborate with Learning & Development managers, peers, and subject matter experts throughout key training initiatives and projects.
10% -- Work with standard development tools and software (Articulate Storyline, ProProfs, Poll Everywhere, etc.).
10% -- Work on creative and innovative ways to develop associates.
10% -- Assist with coaching staff on public speaking techniques and/or the onboarding of new Learning and Development Specialists.
10% -- Effectively manage individual and group projects.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field.
Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and eLearning tools (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in instructional design, training, or coaching (e.g., CPLP/ATD, Kirkpatrick, SHRM).
Experience with data‑driven evaluation of training programs.
Familiarity with adult learning theory, change management, and leadership development.
Years of Relevant Work Experience 3–5 years of experience in L&D, instructional design, or corporate training.
Core Competencies
Proficient Knowledge of adult learning theories and training methodologies.
Familiarity with distance learning techniques using WebEx Training and WebEx Meetings.
Proficiency with software, including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Proficiency with LMS authoring tools such as Storyline, ProProfs, and BAI Online.
Basic knowledge of project management principles.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Strong commitment to employee development and retention.
High energy for a fast‑paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to work flexible schedules to accommodate training class requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements (Optional) 50% of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position, and there is frequent opportunity to move about. 50% of the time is spent standing, facilitating instructor‑led training where there is frequent opportunity to move about. On occasion, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
