UI/UX Designer – Huntsville, AL OASYS is seeking a User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) Designer to join the team that will transition our planning tools from desktop applications to cloud-native web applications. The modernization effort will include developing new user interfaces and merging workflows from multiple planning tools into a single cloud-native application. The designer will play a pivotal role in the design of the next-generation medical planning tools for NHRC. Position may require minimal travel to support customer requirements.
Position Responsibilities
Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for a web browser-based application.
Create visually compelling dashboards and reports that enhance data storytelling and support decision-making.
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, system engineers, software developers, and customer stakeholders to translate complex data and workflows into clear, engaging designs.
Facilitate design discussions and incorporate feedback to refine and improve user experiences.
Utilize design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, JustInMind, or similar to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Apply UI/UX best practices including layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, and accessibility standards.
Communicate with the software development team to ensure designs are feasible within a web browser environment using Microsoft ASP.NET/Blazor.
Apply a user-centered design approach with strong sensitivity to stakeholder goals and challenges.
Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and DoD design guidelines where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in UI/UX design for web browser-based applications (or 2+ years with a Master’s degree).
Strong grasp of UI/UX principles: layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, and accessibility.
Experience designing applications deployed in multiple web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.).
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, JustInMind, or similar.
Preferred Design Skills
Certifications that demonstrate relevant expertise, such as Certified UX Designer (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group, Human Factors International) or Adobe Certified Professional (Visual Design or UX Design).
Preferred Soft Skills
