Housing Advocate - Plover Place (as needed) Position Summary The Plover Place Housing Advocate supports adult residents by assisting with living skills, responding to needs and crises, and helping maintain a safe and respectful environment. The role also manages building access, answers calls, documents interactions, and provides general administrative and event support.

Plover Place

is a 24‑unit site‑based permanent supportive housing program serving single adults experiencing or at risk of homelessness. It provides housing, case management, staffing, and life skills programming to help residents achieve stability.

Location 319 W Palm St, Duluth, MN 55811

Pay Range $18.65 – $19.30 per hour

Work Hours 24 hours per month (part‑time)

Essential Functions (approx. Time Spent) Participant Support (50%) – Provide compassionate, person‑centered support to adult participants, including living‐skill assistance, crisis response, and promotion of a safe environment. Building Access & Visitor Management (15%) – Manage building access and welcome visitors by greeting, assisting, and directing them appropriately. Documentation & Administrative Support (15%) – Perform administrative tasks, including documenting participant interactions, incidents, and visitor logs. Caller & Information Requests (10%) – Respond to incoming calls and provide information or support as needed. Seasonal & Special Project Support (10%) – Assist with seasonal and special projects and events.

Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 18 years of age. At least one year of experience working with the target population served. Must pass background checks, including through The Salvation Army and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Competencies Flexible interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information. Values honesty, diligence, and ethical conduct in all aspects of work. Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting. On‑site professional environment; remote work not available. Requires clear, consistent communication with colleagues, participants, and visitors. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Shifts may vary and include daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend hours.

Supervisory Responsibilities None.
