The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus is a specialized inpatient program providing a safe, supportive environment for adolescents, adults, and older adults with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, and other eating-related conditions. The interdisciplinary team focuses on stabilization, nutritional rehabilitation, and holistic mental health care, promoting recovery, daily functioning, and safe transitions to home or less restrictive care settings. The program also engages and educates families to support long-term recovery and quality of life after discharge.

What to expect:

The Service Chief at Center for Eating Disorders provides medical leadership and oversight for one of the nation’s premier programs treating eating disorders across the lifespan. This role combines direct clinical care with program leadership, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based treatment in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Service Chief establishes unit treatment philosophy and goals, manages admissions and patient care, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

In addition to managing a caseload, the Service Chief actively engages in quality improvement, mentors and supervises clinical providers, and partners with the Unit Manager to build a positive, team-based culture. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to guide a program that treats complex eating disorders with compassion, innovation, and excellence.

Specific Responsibilities:

Lead the development and coordination of individualized, multidisciplinary treatment plans for patients. Provide direct psychiatric care, including evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management. Supervise and mentor psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, residents, and fellows on the unit. Ensure quality of care through oversight of clinical operations, compliance, and quality assurance activities. Partner with the Unit Manager and Medical Director to align program operations with Sheppard Pratt’s mission and goals. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff. What you’ll get from us:

What we need from you:

Active Maryland medical license and Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry. Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate. Minimum three years of experience preferred, with demonstrated leadership in acute psychiatric or behavioral health settings. Strong collaboration, communication, and supervisory skills with a commitment to patient-centered care. Experience providing care in acute behavioral or crisis settings.

The base pay range for this position is $265,000 to $325,000 minimum to maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
