Temporary Patient Services Associate/School-Based Health - Brooklyn
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Services Associate - School-Based Health - Temporary. Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred.
Job Responsibilities
Greets all patients, family or other related individuals while maintaining excellent customer service and professionalism at all times.
Scheduling functions in accordance with the Scheduling policies, including scheduling appointments (including virtual visits) and procedures that do not require pre‑authorization.
Monitors the daily schedule.
Refers all inquiries regarding pre‑authorizations/certifications to the Senior Patient Service Associate.
Registration functions in accordance with Registration policies, including responsible for patient check‑in and check‑out, gathering patient demographic data, verifying insurance information, and ensuring eligibility and electronic sign‑ups.
Assists with translation needs and documentation.
Web enables all eligible patients for the patient portal.
Ensures patients review and sign electronic patient related documents including consent, financial agreements, HIPAA, HIE, etc.
Follows up with patients, physician offices, and other representatives to gather missing data and complete the intake process.
Scans all necessary documents (insurance cards, lab requisitions, faxed reports) into the intake EMR system.
Outlines Check‑Out functions, creating follow‑up appointments, referrals for specialty services, and printing documents for patients to take home.
Performs financial functions, including insurance eligibility verification, collecting co‑pays and deductibles, and assisting uninsured patients with financial programs.
Performs cashiering tasks as assigned.
Answers calls promptly and professionally, identifying the facility’s name and handling inquiries or directing callers appropriately.
Conducts outbound outreach calls for confirmation, ambulatory referrals, recalls, follow‑ups, and discharge follow‑up for patients seen in the hospital.
Works in conjunction with the healthcare team, participating in site improvement efforts and accepting coverage assignments.
Maintains professional relationships with providers, nurses, and clinical staff.
Monitors patient/referral work queues and portal scheduling messages daily.
Reports problems or concerns to supervisors and assists with translation communication as needed.
Is able to work at multiple site locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Prior office or customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to type a minimum of 20 words per minute.
Accurate data entry and strong organizational skills.
Willingness to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Patient registration experience.
Proficiency in Spanish.
