Crisis Response Mental Health Specialist

to join our innovative crisis response team. This is a

community-based role

focused on responding to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis-providing de-escalation, stabilization, and linkage to needed services.

About the Role:

Developed in partnership with the

Shaker Heights Police and Fire Departments , the Crisis Intervention Specialist plays a vital part in responding to mental health emergencies alongside-but independent of-first responders. The primary goal of this program is to

minimize immediate risk, prevent harm, and reduce unnecessary use of emergency departments, police interventions, or inpatient hospitalizations .

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and peer support specialists, using a

city-owned vehicle

to provide immediate on-site care, follow-ups, and wellness checks throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities: Provide rapid, in-person crisis intervention and clinical support in coordination with first responders Provide de-escalation, stabilization and linkage to needed services Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and peer support specialists Use a city-owned vehicle to provide immediate on-site care Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation as required by program deliverables and departmental, local, state and federal policy and requirements What We Offer:

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related human services field Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, in crisis intervention, mental health or related field Proven ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations A commitment to and interest in the mission of the department to enhance public safety through community-centered approaches to prevention and intervention Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in crisis response, mobile crisis teams, or co-responder programs Knowledge of local mental health resources and systems of care Ability to work independently in dynamic environments
