FindTalent is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented
Senior Estimator
on behalf of a leading utilities construction company in Southern California. This role is essential in the planning and execution of large-scale transmission and substation construction projects. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing and refining estimating methodologies while ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of project bids. This position requires deep industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead the estimation process for mid-to-large-scale transmission and substation construction projects, ensuring accurate cost projections and scope evaluations. Analyze project documentation, engineering designs, and bid specifications to develop precise cost estimates. Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings to assess project conditions, risks, and scope. Collaborate with project management, operations, scheduling, and proposal teams to coordinate and manage pricing strategies. Evaluate subcontractor needs, assess labor and equipment requirements, and establish unit cost metrics for self-performed work. Review and refine project take-offs, ensuring accuracy in materials and labor estimates. Develop and present project cost breakdowns and bid submissions for internal approvals. Maintain compliance with established project management methodologies, safety protocols, and quality standards. Assist in the continuous improvement of estimating processes, methodologies, and software tools. Provide recommendations and justifications for change orders as needed during project execution. Stay current on industry trends, construction best practices, and regulatory changes affecting project costs and feasibility.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proven experience leading the estimating process for large-scale construction projects. In-depth understanding of construction and utility industry standards, including transmission and substation construction. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineered drawings for accurate take-offs. Expertise in estimating software (B2W ) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem?solving skills with the ability to develop cost?effective solutions. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple estimating efforts simultaneously. Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. Ability to adapt to new processes, evolving project requirements, and changing industry standards.
Experience/Education
Bachelors degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in estimating for power delivery or related construction projects.
