Engineering Technician B

As a member of the Integration Facility, the Engineering Technician will perform maintenance and repair to various networking and telecommunication systems, cabling, and other related equipment under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors. To include: Intraplex multiplexers, ADS-B Radio systems, or configuration of CISCO and other networking equipment to be installed in the FAA's FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks. Essential Functions: Responsible for the test, diagnosis, repair, configuration and preventative maintenance of network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and/or computers for systems that support the FAA's FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks. Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair RF and computer systems. Construction of new equipment racks as required. Operation and testing with various pieces of electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, RF generators, VIAVI 5800, and Tempo Datascout. Terminate and build Cable connectors and replacements (RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25) Communicate with vendors to perform RMA of equipment for repair. Maintain records on repairs, changes, and updates in homegrown database systems. Read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions Maintain a safe clean work area utilizing principles of 5S. Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate's degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. Active or Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Preferred Additional Skills: Familiar with Cisco devices and command line interfaces via terminal software. (Putty/TeraTerm/Hyperterm/Procomm). Strong sense of responsibility, ownership and follow-through. Be a team player, pro-active, and customer oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal. Possess a high level of initiative and willingness to learn. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Military training or trade school program in electronics or IT systems.
