Stipend Opportunity: Compensatory Services Provider - Academics
Boston Public Schools, Office of Specialized Services, is seeking Special Education Certified Teachers to provide compensatory services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). These positions will offer both remote and in-person tutoring, focused on helping students achieve their IEP goals. This position allows for flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability, opportunities to work remotely and in-person, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students in Boston Public Schools. Responsibilities: Provide targeted academic instruction and support based on students' IEP goals; Review and understand the students compensatory services agreement; Schedule services with the students family in a way that aligns with the compensatory services agreement. Depending on the services being provided, services can be provided in person or virtually; Provide the specific services that are outlined in the compensatory services agreement; Document and report weekly on service hours completed; Work with the supervisor to troubleshoot any difficulties with providing services; Complete all corresponding reports, including IEPs documents and progress reports; and upload all work into the applicable systems as necessary. Terms: OSS expects a minimum of 2-4 hours and a maximum of 20 hours weekly. As approved by the Deputy Chief of Services or their designee, the Teacher can be compensated for travel to and from the location where the services are provided. This time will be compensated at the BTU hourly rate. The provider is responsible for completing all planning and documentation as expected. This work will be compensated at the BTU hourly rate at an additional 15 minutes for every hour of service provided. All work must be completed outside the regular workday. Qualifications: Massachusetts Special Education Certification required. Experience working with students with special needs, particularly in an academic or educational setting. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to engage students both remotely and in-person, as needed. Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation. Certification in programs such as Wilson Reading and Orton-Gillingham is preferred.
