Correctional Maintenance Officer I - Electrical
POSITIONS IN CUMBERLAND & HAGERSTOWN. The incumbent is responsible under general supervision for the repair work, training and supervision of inmates in the electrical trade at a State Correctional Facility. Incumbent may perform more complex or security sensitive maintenance and repair tasks from time to time and may work out of his assigned trade when needed. Position duties include: inmate supervision including maintaining control and discipline among inmate workers; conducting searches for contraband items; administering verbal or written disciplinary actions enforcing safety, sanitary, custody and security rules and regulations. Assigning installation maintenance or repair tasks to designated inmates performing at various levels of proficiency in the trade. Training and instructing inmates regarding methods and techniques, use of tools and equipment, and proper care of tools and equipment. Inspecting and approving/disapproving all work performed by inmates for adherence to quality standards. Estimating time, materials and supplies to conduct assigned maintenance or repair tasks. Ordering materials and supplies, keeping records and inventory of materials and tools. Personally performing certain installation, maintenance or repair tasks on electrical infrastructure. Planning and implementing procedures. Operating hand and power tools and equipment needed; maintaining record of time. Escorting third party vendors and inspecting completed work assignment.
