Aerospace Structural Welder

You will be the Aerospace Structural Welder for the Special Operations Forces - Global Logistics Support Services (SOF GLSS) team. Our team is responsible for delivering world-class logistics, maintenance, and sustainment services to U.S. Special Operations Command. As the Aerospace Structural Welder you will be responsible for executing high-integrity fusion welds on aircraft, ground-support equipment, and critical aerospace components while ensuring full compliance with national welding and brazing codes. Your responsibilities will include: Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work orders to determine material, joint configuration, and critical tolerances. Develop, qualify, and maintain Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) in line with ASME, AWS D17.1, and AWS D1.1 standards. Prepare joints, fabricate fixtures, and execute welds on sheet and tube forms in all positions, managing heat input and post-weld treatments. Conduct inspections, record weld parameters, and ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and SAP documentation. Drive continuous improvement by collaborating on new WPS development, tooling enhancements, and participating in audits. This position supports our Special Operations Forces - Global Logistics Support Services contract, which is the U.S. Special Operations Command's (USSOCOM) largest service contract vehicle providing a wide range of tailored logistics, maintenance, and sustainment services. This position is in Lexington. Discover more about our Lexington, Kentucky location. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start. Basic Qualifications: 2-3 years of welding experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes. AWS D17.1 - Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications AWS D1.1 - Structural Welding Code - Steel Demonstrated ability to produce acceptable welds in all standard positions and joint configurations. Proficiency in interpreting industry standard weld symbols, measuring weld sizes, and recognizing common weld defects. Microsoft Office Suite - Excel for data tracking, Word for documentation, Outlook for communication. Minimum 5 years of aerospace structural welding experience, including flight critical applications. Desired Skills: SAP - Experience entering work orders, tracking material consumption, and maintaining weld records. Material Expertise - Ability to select correct filler metals and shielding gases for steel, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel based alloys across a wide thickness range. Fixture & Jig Design - Basic knowledge of weld jigs, assembly tooling, and ability to design/fabricate simple fixtures. CNC & Machine Shop Operations - Familiarity with CNC welding heads, machining equipment, and general manufacturing processes (a plus). Experience with torque controlled torch brazing of ground support equipment. Exposure to non-destructive testing (NDT) methods This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
