Junior System Administrator
HX5 is an award-winning provider of engineering, research and development, and technical services to clients such as NASA and the Department of Defense. Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide. HX5 is currently seeking a Junior System Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform system administration duties on Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) suite of applications. Support systems engineering, maintenance, and operations of cyber capabilities. Assist in troubleshooting of hardware, software, and capability of the DCO suite of applications. Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability. Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures. Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies. Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability. Monitor and maintain system/server configuration. Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware. Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers. Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties. The Successful Candidate Will: Have a positive attitude and willingness to expand knowledge and skill set. Be skilled in recovering failed systems/servers. Be skilled in operating system administration. Have knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies. Have knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability. Have knowledge of performance tuning tools and techniques. Have knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components. Have knowledge of systems administration concepts. Have knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance. Have knowledge of organizational information technology (IT) user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control). Have knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques. Have knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity. Have knowledge of cybersecurity principles. Have knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Have knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses. Have knowledge of common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute). Have knowledge of cloud computing service models Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
