Principal Systems Engineer
If you are experienced in supporting Windows-based devices, troubleshooting complex networked systems, and driving infrastructure improvements and have 10+ years of experience in the aerospace or defense industry, then you will be excited about the Principal Systems Engineer opening with Iridium on our Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Principal Systems Engineer you'll be responsible for managing multiple activities and projects, including those with cross-functional teams, to analyze and support critical systems, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and plan next-generation network solutions that ensure system performance and reliability. In this role, you will focus primarily on developing and testing automation scripts, designing and delivering application solutions that enhance end-to-end connectivity, and collaborating across teams to implement scalable, efficient improvements. You will thrive in this role if you are detail-oriented, proactive in resolving technical challenges, and motivated to deliver high-quality solutions in a mission-driven environment. This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). What You'll Do:
Analyze and support Windows-based devices and applications, identifying issues and crafting solutions to ensure optimal system performance and reliability Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, plan next-generation network solutions, and implement improvements to enhance infrastructure scalability and efficiency Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to design, test, and deliver application solutions that support end-to-end network connectivity and operational needs Work independently to develop, test, and deliver scripts that automate processes and improve upon network performance, monitoring, and connectivity across global environments Apply systems engineering best practices to evaluate designs, identify risks, and support performance analyses Provide support for field deployments, system verification, and resolution of integration issues What You'll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree 10+ years of relevant experience in system engineering or related fields Proficiency in supporting windows-based applications, system architecture, networking, cloud platforms and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Bash) Strong understanding of hardware, software, and network systems Experience diagnosing and resolving complex system issues Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities Be proactive in sharing knowledge you've learned with others Things That Would Be Great If You Brought to the Table:

Be able to travel up to 50% When not traveling, be able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders Be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for multiple hours, and climb short ladders This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of Iridium's U.S. government contracts, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens. Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
