Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Stepdown position on night shift, requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and recent Epic experience. Responsibilities Position based in the Cardiac Renal Unit (Stepdown) at a hospital High acuity patient population with focus on cardiac and renal cases including Afib, flutter, blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post ablations, and dialysis Unit has 32 beds with night shift nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM Floating required within skillset to nearby campuses (within 11 miles) with 2-hour notice for cross-campus floats Mid-shift float possible within the same campus; cross-campus mid-shift floats are unlikely but possible No on-call or call-back required Three weekends required per six week scheduling period with every other holiday required Epic EMR used and recent experience required Provide advanced cardiac and renal stepdown care with responsibilities including telemetry monitoring, medication titration, and advanced procedures Must be prepared to precept students and new-hires in a teaching hospital environment Supportive team with high retention and experienced leadership in place COVID-19 vaccination is not required at this time but may be subject to change Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos Frequent call-ins (three or more) may result in termination Holiday schedule rotates every other holiday Candidates are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate resilience and teamwork Requirements Active compact RN license required AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac/telemetry experience required At least 1 prior travel assignment required Trauma Level II experience required Ability to interpret 12-lead EKGs and pass telemetry tests Experience initiating and titrating drips, performing PIV insertion, managing chest tubes and drains, and managing stables drips such as heparin, lasix, and protonix Recent experience with Epic charting system required and must be able to pass checkoff class Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required Candidates must not reside within a 40-mile radius of the hospital Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628571.
