Overview
Director, Technical Accounting St Louis, MO (Hybrid) Director, Technical Accounting to join Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) in the accounting and reporting for complex transactions. Requires deep knowledge of authoritative U.S. GAAP, ability to research and interpret guidance, and partnership with the business to apply guidance to transactions. Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and the ability to communicate the impact of complex revenue transactions to leadership. Responsibilities
Manage functional areas of responsibility including revenue compliance and business unit tax compliance to ensure activities are timely, accurate, and compliant with internal controls and Corporate policy. Partner with the business to understand proposed transactions, diagnose accounting and reporting implications under U.S. GAAP, and assess effects on internal controls, including complex revenue transactions, warranty arrangements, and tax consequences. Support SAP implementations and other system integrations requiring technical accounting and control support. Support integration of new acquisitions by evaluating complex transactions for additional accounting considerations. Draft technical accounting memos, accounting position papers, and control documentation to support accounting conclusions and processes. Stay current with emerging accounting guidance, proactively assess impact and alternatives, and communicate findings to Finance leadership. Coordinate with Hubbell Corporate accounting on technical accounting matters, presenting findings and alternatives to Finance leadership. Perform month-end close routines, including journal entries and account reconciliation reviews. Engage in special projects as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters in Accounting or MBA preferred. CPA required. 810 years of combined experience in Big 4 and/or Corporate Accounting. Strong working knowledge of ASC 606, its principles, and application to revenue-related transactions. Proven ability to work efficiently with minimal oversight. Ability to identify, diagnose, and communicate the impact of complex business transactions to leadership. Hands-on collaboration across departments and effective communication up the chain of command. Willingness and ability to adapt to rapid business changes in a high-growth environment. Ability to research and prepare internal memos on technical accounting issues using ASC codification and other sources. Proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills with the confidence to adjust presentation style for all levels. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
