Software Configuration Specialist

Job Title We are looking for a talented Software Configuration Specialist who is well-versed in the IBM Rational Suite of Tools, specifically ClearQuest and ClearCase. This role involves building and deploying software applications while managing multiple assignments concurrently. You will work independently with program team members and showcase your understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle essential for effective configuration management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to engage positively with program team members and clients. $50 - $55 / hr. w2 Responsibilities: Administer IBM Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest tools across various environments, including applying fix packs and upgrades. Enhance and customize ClearCase and ClearQuest tools using Visual Basic, VBScript, Perl, and SQL. Execute on-demand builds and deployments for J2EE and .Net applications according to configuration management procedures. Conduct Configuration Management quality assurance of artifacts. Control changes and ensure the integrity of all application development and program artifacts. Identify configuration items, audit changes, and manage configurations throughout the software development lifecycle. Facilitate communication between the project team to identify and resolve software defects. Ensure appropriate versioning of configuration items prior to changes or implementations. Create and document Configuration Management procedures. Support the Customer Service Center as required. Occasionally cover on-site late shift hours as scheduled. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager. Experience Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of specific experience with IBM Rational tools administration, focusing on installation, upgrades, and configuration of IBM Rational ClearQuest and ClearCase (ideally version 9.x and above). Proven ability to develop ClearQuest schemas. Experience with IBM Rational ClearCase VOB administration and ClearQuest customization using Visual Basic, SQL, and/or Perl. Capability to update SQL Server and DB2 databases, along with Data Studio expertise. Experience in installing and configuring Rational Application Developer (preferably version 9.x and above), Eclipse, and Visual Studio (preferably 20xx and above). Strong understanding of building software for J2EE and .Net applications. Experience performing software deployments in environments like WebSphere and SharePoint. Proficient in writing and debugging build scripts in ANT, MS Build, and PowerShell. Practical experience with Rational Application Developer/ANT and Visual Studio/MS Build. Experience in working with Virtual Environments such as VMware, AWS, and Azure. Experience managing integration with other IBM Software Development Lifecycle tools. Support experience for teams using ClearCase and ClearQuest tools in both Windows and Linux environments. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, SQL, Visio, and TechSmith Snag-it. Demonstrated experience in writing scripts in Perl, PowerShell, and VBScript for ClearQuest and/or ClearCase. Understanding of software build processes and DevSecOps methodologies. Attention to detail and ability to perform QA/validations during builds and deployments. Excellent written and oral communication skills, emphasizing detail orientation and validation. Experience in a CMMI Software Development framework.
