Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking a full time School Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the school nurse at our Buffalo location of our Early Childhood Special Education program. The school nurse is responsible for the general care, welfare and safety of our preschool children and staff as well as maintaining health records and disseminating medical information.
This position will work year round Monday - Friday. Enjoy paid school breaks!
Job Summary:
The school nurse position is responsible for providing daily healthcare and safety for BHSC students and work related first aid treatment for staff. The nurse will also be accountable for the maintenance and dissemination of student health care plans and worker's compensation tracking for staff. Essential Functions Respond to classroom situations involving communicable diseases including follow-up with children, staff and families Respond to medical emergencies and emergency response drills (e.g., lock-out, lock-down, etc.)Review, update and sign OCFS site Health Care Plans. Communicate required HCP information with classroom team(s) as required. Ensure Individual Health Care Plans for students are up to date and completed prior to a child entering into our program or within 1 week of child's entry. Communicate required HCP information with classroom team(s) as required. Review children's individual HCP's on a quarterly basis. Administer medications to students as needed in accordance with physician's ordersUpdate student health restriction/allergy list/diet orders and forward to classrooms. Assist with securing alternative food items from the breakfast and lunch vendor to accommodate children's dietary restrictions and/or food allergies Purchase, stock & distribute first aid supplies for all ECP locationsAssess status of students' immunization documentation and completed NYS DOH report/audits Administer employee PPD testing and organize flu shot clinics for employees. Enter and scan employee physicals, PPD's and staff injuries into HR database.Evaluate staff injuries and refer staff to Occupational Health facility when neededReview and report situation/accident reports for all BHSC staff and students to the Professional Board for student injuries and the safety committee for staff injuries. Serves as a member of the Emergency response team and the Safety and Wellness CommitteesConduct First Aid/CPR and MAT Training for BHSC employeesPrepare and deliver OHSA and HIPPA in-services/presentations for new employees and annually for all staffReview and post all relevant information from the NYSDOH and the CDC
