Position Overview

The

Lead Tool Technician

oversees the daily operations of the tool room or tooling maintenance area, ensuring tools, dies, fixtures, and equipment are maintained to support production efficiency and quality.

This role combines advanced technical skills with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior technicians, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance schedules, and collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing the setup, calibration, maintenance, and repair of production tooling while leading and supporting a team of Tool Technicians Ensures operational continuity by applying preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Manages spare parts inventory, coordinating with suppliers for restocking, and maintaining accurate records to comply with internal quality, safety, and documentation standards Uses advanced tooling software, including Tools Net 8 and Tools Talk 2.0, to monitor tool performance, analyze usage data, and optimize efficiency and tool longevity Drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports audits and inspections, and develops work instructions and training materials to enhance team performance Requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to operational excellence, safety, and compliance Serves as a key resource for the team, ensuring tools and processes are optimized, and that production goals are consistently met Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 3 years' experience in a tool technician, maintenance or related role in manufacturing OR

High School Diploma or GED Technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance Additional Requirements

We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per shift):

Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl Climb using both legs and arms Head/neck movement Reach outward or above the shoulder Drive or operate equipment such as lifts and/or motor vehicles Lift, carry, push, or pull 15-45 pounds Repetitive use of hands and fingers Use of vibrating tools Depth perceptions required Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces
