Description
Davis & Floyd is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Water Resources Team in our Columbia, Florence, Greenville, or Greenwood, SC office. This position requires a strong engineering background in the study, design, permitting, and construction phase services for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will work in a strong team environment of highly motivated professionals for a privately-owned and oriented company that prides itself on integrity and quality.
Responsibilities
• Performing water and wastewater design and analysis of collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, storage tanks, and treatment processes, including new construction and rehabilitations
• Serving as Engineer of Record for water and wastewater projects
• Preparation of Drawings and Technical Specifications
• Developing probable cost of construction
• Reviewing design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure technical correctness and conformance to project requirements
• Performing Quality Management reviews in accordance with project delivery and quality management standards
• Assisting in preparation of presentation material for client meetings and public review sessions
• Participating in professional work groups and organizations to understand client needs and continue professional growth
• Providing technical direction or supervision to engineers, technicians, or other technical personnel
• Managing production of a wide range of water resources engineering projects including studies, design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration services
• Supervising and coordinating multi-discipline teams on water/wastewater projects
• Managing projects from initiation to closeout including negotiating scopes of work and being accountable for meeting schedules and budget requirements
• Interfacing with clients by phone, in writing, and in person to communicate project status and requirements
• Participating in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency
• Making sure budgets, schedules, and project goals are maintained and accomplished
• Contributing to business development efforts by meeting with prospective, new, and existing clients
• Executing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) is required
• Minimum of 10 years design experience in water/wastewater engineering
• Competent in all relevant water/wastewater design projects and design methods
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations required
• Experience managing a wide variety of projects and clients
• Ability to manage and clearly communicate with staff and clients
• Experience with proposal development, project budgeting, and invoicing
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D preferred
• Working knowledge of hydraulic modeling computer software such as WaterCAD and SewerCAD or similar program
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar program
• Ability to perform field activities such as site and infrastructure investigations
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Understanding of financial reporting to evaluate project performance
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
