Horizon VDI Administrator
to support secure, high-performance
virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
environments across multiple classified and unclassified Department of Defense (DoD) networks. This individual will play a key role in maintaining mission readiness by ensuring reliable, compliant, and optimized VMware Horizon deployments. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in
VDI engineering, security hardening (DISA STIGs), and automation
to keep virtual desktop environments secure, efficient, and audit-ready.

Responsibilities of the Horizon VDI Administrator: Engineer, configure, and maintain
VMware Horizon VDI
environments supporting both classified and unclassified networks. Apply
DISA STIGs
and support
RMF/ATO
compliance activities to meet DoD cybersecurity requirements. Manage and update
gold images
, application layers (App Volumes), and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) configurations. Troubleshoot user access issues, performance degradation, and system incidents, ensuring continuous availability and reliability. Collaborate with system engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and network teams to align on configuration standards and deployment timelines. Automate routine administrative tasks and compliance checks using
PowerShell / PowerCLI
scripting. Maintain documentation for configurations, patching cycles, and audit reports within
eMASS
and other DoD compliance tools. Support security remediation efforts by leveraging tools such as
ACAS
,
HBSS
, and
SCAP Compliance Checker
. Participate in off-hours maintenance windows for patching, upgrades, and system optimizations as needed. Qualifications for the Horizon VDI Administrator:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. 5+ years
of experience in systems engineering, virtualization, or VDI administration. Proven expertise with
VMware Horizon (Instant Clones, App Volumes, DEM)
and
vSphere / ESXi
. Proficiency in
Windows Server, Active Directory, and PowerShell scripting
. Experience applying
DISA STIGs
, supporting
RMF/eMASS
processes, and managing compliance documentation. Familiarity with
ACAS
,
HBSS
, and
SIEM
tools for system monitoring and vulnerability management. Understanding of
TLS/FIPS
configuration and secure network protocols. Ability to work on-site in a
classified environment (up to IL6)
; U.S. Citizenship required. Preferred: Experience with
VMware NSX-T or F5/NSX Advanced Load Balancer

$135,000 - $155,000 ( Dependent on experience ) Comprehensive Benefits:
