Position: Echo Technologist- Lawton, OK Location : Lawton, OK Project Duration : 13 weeks Shift :

7p-7a Fri-Sun (36 hours/week); 1 weekend call every 6-7th; Occasional weekend day time call

Job Description:

The Echo Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiographic examinations (including transthoracic, trans esophageal, stress echo, and Doppler studies) on patients of all ages. This role supports the cardiovascular team by producing accurate imaging, ensuring patient safety and comfort, assisting in image interpretation preparation, and maintaining equipment and workflow standards. Operating imaging equipment, and reviewing images to be sure they are of good quality and helpful for diagnosis. Identifying normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals, and alerting physicians to urgent problems.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare patients for echocardiography: explain procedures, position patients, apply electrodes/transducers, ensure safety protocols. Perform echocardiographic studies (including TTE, TEE, stress/contrast echo) using ultrasound machines and Doppler modalities. Acquire diagnostic images of the heart: chambers, valves, great vessels, septal defects, etc. Measure cardiac structures and Doppler flow velocities; calculate cardiac function parameters (e.g., ejection fraction, chamber volumes, and valve gradients). Document findings, annotate images, maintain image quality and completeness for physician review. Assist cardiologists/physicians during procedures such as TEE, intraoperative echo, and occasionally during stress echo imaging. Maintain and calibrate echo equipment, ensure transducers are functioning, troubleshoot and escalate issues. Ensure cleanliness, infection control, and patient safety in line with institutional and regulatory standards. Follow established protocols, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure timely delivery of imaging studies. Stay updated with advances in echocardiography technology, new imaging protocols, and participate in continuing education/training. Work with the cardiovascular imaging team to improve workflow, image quality, and patient satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Allied Health discipline. Additional certification (e.g., cardiovascular sonography specialty, stress-echo credential). Experience with advanced echocardiography modalities (3D echo, strain imaging, contrast echo). Previous experience in a tertiary hospital or cardiac imaging centre. Familiarity with pacemakers/ICDs, complex congenital heart disease imaging, and intraoperative echo settings.
