Overview The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and filing of court accountings with various Massachusetts (MA) and Connecticut (CT) probate courts. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with state probate laws and supporting the Private Bank's service level agreements. The specialist will act as a primary resource and communicator, responding to inquiries from trust officers, attorneys, and the probate courts regarding the prepared accountings.

Key Responsibilities

Independently and collaboratively prepare MA and CT court accountings for filing, ensuring they meet all state probate law requirements and are submitted accurately and timely. Process necessary financial transactions, including preparing checks for the filing of MA accounts and related legal fees. Act as a primary resource and point of contact for trust officers and external attorneys regarding the details and requirements of the prepared accountings. Respond to inquiries and communications from trust officers, attorneys, and the probate courts quickly and proficiently. Comply with and strive to exceed the service level agreements (SLAs) established for the Probate Accounting team and the Private Bank. Partner effectively with team members to ensure all legally required accountings are provided efficiently. Manage assigned tasks, competing priorities, and high-volume requests while maintaining a high level of accuracy and proficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in financial or legal documentation. Strong analytical skills with the ability to review complex financial data and legal requirements. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to manage time-sensitive court deadlines and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Superior communication skills (written and verbal), professionalism, and the ability to articulate information clearly when responding to trust officers, attorneys, and the courts. Demonstrated ability to be a team player and work collaboratively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access. Strong Active Listening skills to accurately process requests and information.

Desired Skills

Experience in probate, trust administration, or fiduciary accounting is highly preferred. A capacity for Innovative Thinking to suggest process improvements is a plus.
