Shift: Shift 4

Shift Details: Looking for an RN with recent critical care unit experience for 10hr shifts from 930am-8pm (hours may need to adjust with patient daily OR volume)Call/Holidays:• Generally 4-5 shifts weeknight call (Monday-Thursday) from 2100-0700 every 6 weeks.• One Friday night call shift 2100-0700 every 6 weeks.• One weekend call shift from Saturday 0700 - Monday 0700 generally every 6-7 weeks. • 1-2 Holiday Call shifts 0700-0700 per year. (Holiday call applies to New Year's Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day). If a holiday falls on weekend, generally OR observes the holidays following the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) schedule.o Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are included in Holiday Call rotation schedule. Typically, call will start 1700 or 1800-0700 on these two evenings.o If July 4th falls on a weekend, OR may be closed Monday or Friday due to observed holiday.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients. The RN demonstrates competency in delivery of care to all patient populations, and is responsible for the management of both the unique and predictable needs of the patient who has undergone an operative or invasive procedure in the Operating Room and/or the GI/Bronch lab. They will utilize the principles of medical/surgical nursing along with a unique knowledge base regarding anesthetic agents and techniques to assess, diagnose and treat patients in the immediate post anesthesia period. The Registered Nurse job description incorporates the 15 essential functions of the job description, which are adapted from the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Upon hire any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program. Acceptance into a program is expected within 15 months of hire and the degree program must be completed within 5 years of enrollment, or 6 years if program is MSN, DNP or PhD in Nursing. Bachelors Degree in Nursing is preferred.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within one year of hire.
