Overview Assist with management of overseeing repair & maintenance of equipment, manage purchasing and inventory levels. Work with the Barge Superintendent to oversee dry docking. Ensure compliance of all documentation & regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Help maintain capital expenditure budget for barges

Assist and oversee Vessel Repair and Maintenance Program

Monitor compliance of documentation & regulatory requirements

Oversee dry docking & maintenance projects on barges

Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned

Assist with repair and maintenance costs versus the budget

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of oil barges

Knowledge of barge maintenance systems and equipment

Steel work and repair on barges and Tugs

Ability to troubleshoot Diesel engines, Hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment

Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications

Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions

Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance

Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members

Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port

5 years Maritime industry experience

Perform inspections of vessels on repair & maintenance standards and procedures

HAZWOPER (including Incident Command System) training within 90 days of being hired

First Aid & CPR training

Must have valid TWIC or able to obtain one within 60 days

Valid State driver license

Must be able to travel to Canada

Job Condition and Environment

Must be able to perform the job functions and be physically fit enough to pull heavy lines/hoses; lift or carry heavy items; climb onto barges; climb up and down ladders; bend and twist during boat/barge tie up.

Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)

Must not be afraid of heights.

Expected Hours of Work

Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays, concerning changes in schedules and conditions

Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours

Travel required 25-45%
