Short Description: 40 Hours per week, Salaried position. No OT Reports to DON and Admin DON Supervises: CNA Trainees, CNAs, SR CNAs, LPNs, RNs, Unit Clerks NYS License and BLS required Previous manager experience required.

Full Time Days M-F Would take on the role as nurse manager. Flexibility required for issues after hours and on weekends as needed.

Complete Description: The Nurse Manager mustdemonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropiate tothe age of the patients/residents served within his/her assigned area ofresponsibility. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles ofgrowth and development of the life span and process the ability to assess datareflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropiate informationneeded to identify each patient's/resident's requirements relative to agespecific needs.

Minimum: Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.Knowledgeable in the area of management systems and processes. Demonstrated ability to establish effective work relationships in an effort to lead others in the direction of meeting organizational objectives. Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop, and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions. Basic management competencies for the postion assigned. Ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. Familiarity with DOH requirements. Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, power point Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point & Meditech

The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel. Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel accountable to the nurse manager. Ensures that the nursing care delivered is grounded in the principles of relationship based care and reflects a patient / family centered focus. Creates the expectation through role modeling that professional nursing practice means working in partnership with colleagues within nursing, other disciplines, and the patient / resident / family to achieve the best possible outcome. Demonstrates broad based knowledge of nursing in general as well as knowledge specific to the chosen area of practice. Applies nursing practice knowledge in daily interaction with patients/resident/ families and other members of the healthcare team and holds staff accountable for the same.

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue. | |
