Job Summary
About the Role
The Director of Banquets is responsible for leading all aspects of banquet operations at the Duke Energy Convention Center. This position ensures the successful planning, execution, and service of all catered events, with a focus on excellence in guest experience, team leadership, financial performance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of banquet functions, ensuring events are executed flawlessly.
Lead and manage banquet managers, captains, and service teams; foster a positive, high-performance culture.
Collaborate with culinary, sales, and operations teams to ensure event plans are executed according to client expectations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, labor guidelines, and company policies.
Monitor and manage labor costs, inventory, equipment, and operating supplies within budget.
Continuously improve service standards and team training to enhance guest satisfaction.
Participate in client walkthroughs, tastings, and planning meetings as needed.
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive leadership in banquet or large-scale event operations, preferably in a convention center, hotel, or large venue.
Proven experience managing large teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with event management systems and basic financial acumen (labor forecasting, cost controls, etc.).
ServSafe and alcohol service certification (or ability to obtain).
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
