Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe for commercial or industrial establishments. Assist in plant production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Coordinates repairs and gets bids from contractors. Performs various production operations functions as requested. Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess 3 or more years of commercial maintenance experience; preferably within a manufacturing environment Must have a high mechanical aptitude. Experience working with pumps, installing and replacing parts, a plus. Plumbing experience a plus. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
