Position Title: Research Technician - Cell and Molecular Biology
Work Location: North Chicago, IL 60064
Assignment Duration: 6 Months (Possible Extension)
Position Summary
A
Research Technician
position in
Cell and Molecular Biology
is available at the
Genomic Research Center (GRC) . The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in human-induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) reprogramming, cell differentiation, CRISPR editing, and high-throughput functional screening. This role requires a motivated individual capable of performing time-sensitive experiments and managing extended hiPSC differentiation protocols with meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine experimental protocols and procedures in the wet lab.
Maintain tissue culture, including stem cells and stem cell-derived cells.
Accurately document experimental setups, SOPs, and data quality control.
Maintain efficient and continuous communication with the manager and team members.
Support team members with routine cell culture procedures, including media preparation and reagent aliquoting.
Perform molecular and cell biology experiments such as qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, and Western blot analyses.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of
3 years
of independent, hands-on laboratory experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with
aseptic techniques
in a laminar flow biosafety cabinet.
Significant
cell culture expertise
- including maintenance, freezing, thawing, and passaging.
Proficiency in
biochemical assays
such as Western blot/WES, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry.
Skilled in
molecular biology techniques
- RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and RT-qPCR.
Strong knowledge of
serial dilutions
and
solution concentration calculations .
Excellent
written and oral communication skills .
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and execute
long-term experimental protocols , including occasional weekend work.
Nice to Have
Experience with

and
differentiation into brain cell types,
