Role Description:
VETERINARY STAFF Intern Location: Lincoln, NE
Internship Summary: The purpose of this program is to introduce students pursing veterinary related careers (DVM or LVT) who are interested in opportunities in a research setting. The Intern will work alongside clinical and/or research veterinarians and scientists participating in animal welfare / 3Rs initiatives as well as all aspects of laboratory animal care, providing a unique opportunity to learn about vaccine research and manufacturing.
The intern will take a deep dive into multiple areas of lab animal medicine including animal handling, clinical study design, animal dosing/sample collection techniques, standard equipment, husbandry and care of animals. The Intern will be introduced to the regulations involved with using animals in research, including but not limited to the Animal Welfare Act, IACUC, and CFR part 9, with a focus on industry specifics.
Internship Job Duties: Clinical or scientific research project with a presentation at end of internship Collect, enter, verify, and analyze data from animal welfare-specific studies Assist the veterinary team with medical cases (treatments and follow-up) Assist with data entry and trending for process improvement projects May assist with basic care and enrichment needs
Internship Qualifications: Qualified candidate should have completed one to two years of graduate education with a focus on veterinary training and have an interest in clinical veterinary medicine, preventative medicine and/or research. Enrolled in a veterinary program during the Spring term preceding internship At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S. Successfully pass a background check and drug screen Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving & analytical skills
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois (Chicago area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington (Seattle area):
