Position Summary
Assist one or more skilled tradesmen with routine installations, repairs construction and replacement of equipment. Description
Builds, repairs, and modifies all types, sizes and shapes of metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures; gauges and machinists' hand tools; Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder; verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications; Assembles and conducts tests of complex tools on manufacturing equipment; Applies knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout, machining, and assembly procedures; Studies specs such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts; Computes dimensions plans layout and determines assembly method and sequence of operation; Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances using measuring instruments such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges and micrometers; May examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures and recommend modifications re: construction and function of part; Heat-treat and weld parts as required; Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part; Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product. Requirements and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; ability to read a blueprint; basic math ability, working knowledge of metric measuring system, and experience in the use of calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges. Must be skilled in the use of hand measuring equipment. Flexible during times of change. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and work instructions. Must have the following technical skills and experience:
5+ On the Job Experience Highly desired Stamping or roll form tooling experience highly desired, but not required Must be a journeyman tool and die maker or complete a formal apprenticeship program or have sufficient experience in the field.
This position requires thorough knowledge of equipment, requires aptitude for understanding mechanical systems with some formal training or education, ability to read and follow detailed instructions, and flexibility in work schedule
Position Requirements
Standing, walking; repetitive movement; bending or twisting; exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable; exposure to contaminants and hazardous equipment; exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings; meeting strict deadlines; responsibility for the health and safety of others; and, wearing of protective or safety equipment. Must be able to meet attendance standards.
Physical Abilities and Requirements
Visual and Hearing: Must be able to see with corrective eye wear, must be able to hear clearly with assistance, wearing hearing protection. Lifting-must be able to lift 0-50 lbs and/or greater than 50 lbs with assistance, push up to 300 lbs
Other physical requirements include must have the ability to walk, stand bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist frequently and repeatedly and for extended periods.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday 3/12 hr shifts work 36 hrs, paid for 40/hrs and weekly bonuses
