Business Manager Job Description

Parish Custodians (St. Patrick and St. Anthony), SP Rummage Hall Coordinator Primary Objective:
The Business Manager is delegated by the pastor to oversee the administration of the temporal goods that belong to the parish. The Business Manager must oversee the day-to-day business of the parish in accord with Gospel values and responsible stewardship of parish resources. Primary Responsibilities:
A. Administration of Finance, including: Keeps parish books Prepares, monitors, and reports on the parish budget Maintains, monitors, and reports on Investment records Reviews bank reconciliations Maintains parish financial records Monitors Payroll, including withholding, retirement and tax reporting Approves Expenditures in keeping with the parish budget Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable Answers questions for the Finance Council, Parish Council, Pastor, Principal Prepares annual reports to parishioners and Diocese B. Administration of Buildings and Grounds, including:
Advised by the Buildings and Grounds Committee Maintains capital assets inventory Maintains facility insurance policies and issues Assisted by Buildings and Grounds, Parish and Finance Councils, prepares and executes long-range facility plans Interfaces with the cemetery committees C. Administration of Personnel, oversees:
Maintenance and janitorial staff recruiting, interviewing and hiring, in collaboration with Buildings and Grounds Assists pastor with implementing personnel handbook of expectations and policies Administers salary and benefits, as needed Maintains personnel files Maintains master file of Finance Council minutes With the Parish Secretary, monitors the membership of Pastoral, Finance and Buildings and Grounds to maintain a record of service terms and limits D. Administration of Stewardship, oversee or perform some or all of the following:
Along with Parish Secretary, helps with Parish stewardship committee liaison (as needed) E. Provide Spiritual Leadership by lifestyle choices:
Lives the life of a Confirmed Practicing Catholic (if Catholic) Actively deepens his/her own faith Prays Daily Fulfills the Precepts of the Church (CCC #2041-3) (if Catholic) Witnesses to Gospel Values in the workplace Nature of Supervision Received:
Works under the direction of Pastor. Receives direction to assign objectives, assist in prioritization of tasks, to review results and offer guidance. Requires individual initiative in recognition and research of parish needs and problems. Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Does not sign checks. Responsible for vendor contact, evaluation, and verification of services provided for routine budgeted items. Takes the direction of the Finance Council for special projects and can assist the B & G volunteer in executing, getting bids, and bringing proposals to the Finance Council. Supervision Exercised/Number of Employees Supervised:
Responsible for making sure that the custodial work at our two parish sites is being done properly. Responsible for Rummage hall coordinator and management of seasonal rummage hall. Additional Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Anything in accord with the mission of the Church and the nature of the job which gives life and joy to the employee.
