As a Domestic Violence Victims Advocate for Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, you will play a vital role in the lives of survivors and their families, providing safety, support, and empowerment through:

Provide advocacy for victims applying for other services in order to live violence and abuse free.

Provide or arrange for transportation as necessary.

Client advocacy and accompaniment through court, social services, medical and housing systems, and others where appropriate.

Maintain accurate and complete case notes.

Provision of children services, including: counseling, recreational activities and childcare as appropriate.

Shared coverage of 24-hour hotline.

Facilitation of support group as required.

Follow mandatory reporting guidelines in suspected child abuse and/or neglect disclosures.

Shelter maintenance, including day-to-day upkeep, cleaning and purchasing supplies and food.

Collect and sort donations made to program.

Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Minimum Pay: $18.00

Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Maximum Pay: $20.00

Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4PM - Occasional on call shift required!

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

1-3 years of experience in mental health, substance use, or human services
