Northwest Gospel Church Summary
Northwest Gospel Church is currently made up of five local churches in Clark County, Washington (Portland, Oregon metro area). These five churches are interdependent, locally led, and missionally linked. Being interdependent, each church relies on the others in multiple areas of ministry and operations. Being locally led, each church is a representation of the local community where it meets. And being missionally linked, we plan to train church planters, and planting Gospel-centered churches in the Portland metro area and beyond. As a church staff, we see Ephesians 4 as our primary job description, "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." As leaders within NGC, we are not primarily "doers" of ministry, but "equippers" of ministry. You should see this play out in every Ministerial and Pastoral role within NGC.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Family Ministry Assistant supports the Youth and Children's Ministries at NGC Battle Ground (NGC BG) by ensuring communication, organization, and ministry systems run smoothly. This role helps both ministries operate efficiently through thoughtful coordination, clear communication, and reliable administrative support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys serving behind the scenes, and thrives in a team environment that impacts the next generation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, edit, and send regular parent and volunteer emails for youth and children's ministry updates, events, and reminders. Maintain clear communication between staff, parents, and volunteers. Assist in managing ministry calendars, sign-ups, and event registrations. Coordinate background checks, safety training, and onboarding materials for new and current volunteers. Track volunteer compliance and training status to ensure all policies are met. Help streamline and improve volunteer onboarding systems for youth and kids ministries. Print and organize children's ministry curriculum and class materials weekly. Ensure supplies and classroom resources are stocked and ready for Sunday use. Assist in preparing teaching schedules, rosters, and check-in lists. Assist in planning and preparing for ministry events (e.g., mid-week events, retreats, camps, family events, and volunteer trainings). Coordinate logistics such as registrations, supply lists, room setups, and communication follow-ups. Maintain accurate ministry databases, rosters, and contact lists. Support staff with administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, or document creation. Help build and refine systems that improve ministry efficiency and volunteer engagement. Additional duties as assigned by Family Ministry Director. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proven administrative or office support experience (church or nonprofit experience a plus). Competent in written communication and email correspondence. Proficient with basic office software (Google Workspace). Experience with church management software or willingness to learn (Planning Center). EXPECTATIONS
A committed follower of Jesus Christ, exhibiting a growing relationship with Him. Agreement with NGC BG's statement of faith, mission, and values. Demonstrated experience in leadership within children's, youth, or family ministry (3+ years preferred). Ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteer teams. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Relational, approachable, and passionate about ministering to families. Organized and detail-oriented: Able to manage multiple tasks and timelines effectively. Team-oriented: Enjoys collaborating with ministry staff and volunteers. Reliable and proactive: Takes initiative to anticipate needs and complete tasks with excellence. Communicative: Clearly expresses information in writing and in person. System-minded: Naturally looks for ways to improve workflows and processes. Ministry-hearted: Values serving others and supports the mission and vision of the church. Discreet and trustworthy: Handles sensitive information with confidentiality and care.
EVALUATION
This position reports directly to the Family Ministry Director. Hours: 15-20 hours per week (flexible scheduling; some hours may be required on Sundays or during events). Compensation $17-$18 per hour.
