Job Description Summary The User Support Specialist - Audio Visual provides day-to-day technical support for the institution's Audio Visual (AV) needs. The individual will assists with live event setup and on-site assistance. This role is responsible for preparing, operating, and maintaining AV equipment; responding to support requests; and ensuring dependable, high-quality audio-visual experiences for classes, meetings, and campus events. The Specialist assists with equipment tracking, routine maintenance, and basic training for faculty, staff, and students.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily AV/IT Support Respond to support requests for AV systems, classroom technology, and meeting spaces. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with projectors, microphones, speakers, displays, video conferencing, and related equipment. Escalate complex technical problems to higher-level staff when necessary. Installation and replacement of equipment in classrooms and conference rooms. Other duties as assigned. Event Setup and Support

Prepare, set up, and operate AV equipment for classes, meetings, and campus events, including lectures, performances, and conferences. Provide on-site technical support during live events, troubleshooting issues quickly to minimize disruption. Assist with after-hours and weekend event coverage as needed. Equipment Maintenance and Inventory

Perform routine testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of AV equipment including vendor coordination, shipments and returns for warranty issues and repairs. Assist with tracking inventory, reporting issues, and preparing equipment for checkout or deployment. User Support and Training

Provide basic training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on using AV equipment. Create and update simple how-to documentation and room setup and use instructions. Collaboration

Work closely with colleagues to support institutional events and ensure consistent service delivery. Assist with special projects or AV upgrades as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of AV equipment including projectors, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing tools, and control panels. Experience installing and maintaining custom AV systems including Crestron and Extron. Experience supporting both macOS and Windows operating environments. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure during live events. Experience supporting large events with senior executives who expect a white glove experience. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Comfortable working on ladders. Education and Experience

Minimum

Five years of experience providing audio visual support, including hands-on experience with AV equipment, installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Associate's degree in Information Technology, Audio Visual Technology, Communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant work experience in AV support or a related technical field. Preferred

Demonstrated experience providing end-user support and training for AV technology. Proven ability to manage projects independently and coordinate AV support for events. AVIXA CTS (I,D) Certification Certified Crestron Programmer Experience setting up and monitoring Crestron Fusion.
