ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join an award-winning editorial team as an

Associate Editor

and use your passion for food and retail to produce content across print, digital, social media, audio/video journalism and live/virtual event platforms. This role is a great fit for someone eager to expand their journalism skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to informing, inspiring, and educating the grocery industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Research, report and write daily news stories for Progressive Grocer's website and e-newsletters on topics affecting the grocery industry. Write regular bylined feature articles for the print edition of Progressive Grocer. Use the Drupal CMS to post online articles, related images, links, and SEO-optimized metadata. Assist the Digital Editor with website management, including writing and posting stories online, scheduling/sending e-newsletters, deploying breaking news, and managing PG's social media channels. Support Progressive Grocer events by assisting with logistics and award presentations, and by moderating panels or presenting sessions. Contribute to Progressive Grocer podcasts and webinars as a host or co-host. Attend grocery industry conferences, trade shows, and store events to report on trends and innovations. Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry sources, including retailers, suppliers and solution providers, for future content development. Actively participate in staff meetings to share ideas, propose story concepts, and discuss industry trends. Stay current on food and retail industry developments to inform coverage priorities. Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field. 3-5 years of B2B media editorial experience. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to work on deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume news cycle. Comfortable being on stage at a live or virtual event, podcasting and webinar hosting. Deep interest in food, grocery and retail industries. Proven ability to create engaging multimedia content with strong social media skills. Ability to travel 5 - 6 times per year to internal and external industry events. Familiarity with the AP Stylebook. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Drupal CMS, newsletter creation tools, and basic photo editing apps (e.g., Photoshop). Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. A strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and enterprising mindset.
