Student - General Maintenance Technician !

DUTIES

ASSOCIATED WITH POSITION :

Provide a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility by: Work on athletic grounds and fields to ensure safe competition through support and work performance. Mowing, trimming, weeding etc. Maintaining and being responsible for tools and equipment used in maintenance work areas, maintaining a clean working environment, as well throughout the campus Identifying and reporting safety concerns, or issues of importance to the attention of immediate supervisor, in a timely manner Removing waste from buildings and grounds and disposes of it in its proper location Maintaining all worksites safe and clean, and free of hazards, on a continuous basis, and leaves completed worksites in equal-to or better than initial conditions Providing a welcoming atmosphere, being committed and available to resolve service issues and sharing information to ensure excellent service Adhering to SJC standards for assigned uniform and acceptable attire Event support: setting up and breaking down event furniture REQUIRED SKILLS

:

Must be at least 18 years old Must have a valid driver's license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record General knowledge and skills related to light maintenance work Good understanding of institutional building maintenance operations Good reading, writing, and math skills Excellent customer service skills required Must work cooperatively and professionally with a wide variety of College personnel as well as outside vendors and contractors. Must work cooperatively with others and deal courteously with students, faculty, staff, and co-workers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form Ability to concentrate and follow through on all assignments to completion Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK ANTICIPATED /TIME REQUIREMENTS :

Work schedule flexibility is required to cover all college events, setups, and breakdowns. Work schedules will be modified to cover such events that may occur outside Department hours and/or over the weekend.

REQUIRED ADDITIONAL TRAININGS (upon hire): Working Conditions in Hot & Cold Environments, Bloodborne Pathogens & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication & The Global Harmonizing System

Community-Based Service Work Requirement: In support of our core value of compassion, which calls us to "consciously reach out beyond our college boundaries to serve the needs of others," all Federal Work Study (FWS) student employees at Saint Joseph's College are expected to complete eight (8) hours of community-based service work, prior to FWS exhausting. These hours can be completed all at once or incrementally. You will receive payment for the 8 community-based service hours as completed on a bi-weekly basis. FWS student employees will have ten weeks to complete their eight (8) hours of community-based work from the start of their position. This work is to be coordinated with the student employee's department manager throughout the semester and students can participate as it fits their schedule. This community-based service work relates directly to the Core Values of Community, Justice, Excellence, and Respect which are the foundation of the College.
