What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
Perform advanced HVAC and refrigeration system maintenance, repair, and diagnostics
Maintain and service commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment
Respond to system alerts and work orders as directed by Plant Engineering Services leadership
Support critical systems including HVAC, mechanical, physical structures, utilities, and grounds
Ensure all work meets applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
Participate in system upgrades, replacements, and emergency response
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED, required
Two years of vocational training in the operation and repair of HVAC equipment
Experience
5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC system installation and maintenance, required
1 year of healthcare experience, preferred
Licensure/Certification
CFC Universal Certification (EPA Rule 608), required
Valid North Carolina Driver's License
State HVAC license, preferred
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of life safety, mechanical, and building codes
Hands-on experience with:
Chillers, chilled water systems, and cooling towers
Boilers and steam systems
Air handling units and air distribution systems
Extensive knowledge of DDC controls and building automation systems
Ability to:
Evaluate HVAC systems for performance and efficiency improvements
Troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and mechanical issues using testing equipment
Read and apply technical service manuals, electrical schematics, and blueprints
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
Proficiency with personal computers and software programs
Ability to recognize and respond to changes in machine/equipment noises
