Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology within the Department of InternalMedicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine is seeking aMedical Education Program Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative,accreditation, and credentialing support for the ACGME-accredited Cardiology FellowshipProgram.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring program compliance with ACGME andinstitutional standards while supporting fellows, faculty, and leadershipacross multiple training sites, including UNM Hospital (UNMH) and the VA. Thecoordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the fellowship, includingscheduling, evaluations, duty hour tracking, credentialing, and onboarding.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining program accreditation recordsthrough systems such as New Innovations and ERAS, coordinating committeemeetings and educational conferences, preparing annual reports and site visitmaterials, and managing program budgets and reimbursements through Chrome Riverand MyReports. The coordinator also organizes major events such as felloworientation and graduation, oversees CME documentation, and serves as theprimary liaison between the program, GME, and hospital partners.
This role is essential to maintaining the fellowship's accreditation, ensuringsmooth program operations, and supporting the Division's mission of deliveringhigh-quality education and patient-centered cardiovascular care.
The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressivedepartment with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide qualitywork in an organized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation,training, and education. Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Experiencewith New Innovations, ERAS, and GME program management systems. Knowledgeof ACGME accreditation standards and fellowship administrative operations. Experiencewith Banner Finance, Chrome River, and UNM institutional systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic setting. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and budget planning
