Under the general guidance of the Court Administrator, the Court Clerk coordinates and performs technical and administrative functions in support of the operations of the Municipal Court. The clerk processes legal documents, manages court records, performs and coordinates courtroom clerking functions, collects payments, and provides information and customer service to the public within the scope of authority.
Not all functions are performed routinely, but could be required of the position at any time. • Performs administrative and routine functions in the courtroom including but not limited to: preparing the courtroom for proceedings, keeping detailed and accurate records, and maintaining exhibits admitted by the court. • Prepares court calendars and case files with all appropriate documentation; assists with scheduling and coordination of jury trials, including preparing, organizing, and mailing out all related selection documents. • Responds to telephone, in-person and email inquiries appropriately and in a timely manner. • Processes both infraction and criminal citations appropriately. • Makes accurate and complete docket entries and prepares legal documents as ordered by the court. • Appropriately schedules criminal hearings and infraction monitoring. • Completes transcripts and certifications of proceedings for appeal or additional action. • Maintains courtroom audio, video, and computer equipment. • Provides the judge with all appropriate materials including briefs, correspondence, and memoranda as to each case and hearing held. • Processes warrants, no-contact orders, and other legal documents and orders in and out of court. • Acts as clerk to Hearing Examiner, coordinating dates and providing required materials, agenda packets, and exhibits; and taking appropriate recordings, notes, and minutes. • Creates and processes financial transactions including the receipt of payments, and keeping statistical data. • Tracks customer accounts for court-ordered payments, monitors for compliance, and issues appropriate notifications on a timely basis. • Completes individual daily deposits accurately as required. • Prepares and maintains records and files in accordance with regular office procedures. • Drafts, sends, receives, and distributes correspondence and legal documents, prioritizing and expediting as necessary. • Responds to public records request and other requests for information within required time-frame; provides requested information and/or refers to appropriate individual or department as necessary. • Complies with all required confidentiality and security procedures at all times. • Maintains timely and regular attendance. • Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute. • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position you must have the following experience and education:• High school diploma or G.E.D.• One (1) year previous experience in municipal court.• Significant previous experience with Judicial Information System (JIS), legal terminology,records management, public relations, or general clerical functions.• Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.• Precise listening skills especially during times of high stress.• Knowledge of the criminal justice system court processing procedures, functions, rulesand policies.• Proficiency with office procedures, equipment,
