Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced
Horizontal Directional Drill Foreman
to join our team. The Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of operations in the field. This role ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The HDD Foreman leads field crews, coordinates with project management, and ensures compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and supervise HDD crews to include AT120, AT40, and 24x40 drill rigs in the installation of conduit, fiber, and utilities using horizontal directional drilling methods. Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine drilling paths and bore profiles. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot HDD equipment including drill rigs, mud systems, and locating devices. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including job site hazard analysis, utility locates, and safe excavation practices. Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and clients to ensure daily production goals and quality standards are met. Manage materials, equipment, and crew scheduling to maintain project efficiency. Maintain accurate field reports including bore logs, as-builts, and daily production summaries. Train and mentor crew members to ensure adherence to company standards and promote professional development. Oversee drilling fluid (mud) management, tooling selection, and drill head tracking to optimize bore success. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in horizontal directional drilling, including at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman role . Strong knowledge of HDD operations, mud systems, utility locating, and bore tracking equipment (e.g., DigiTrak, Subsite, and underground Magnetics) . Ability to read and interpret blueprints, utility maps, and construction documents. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to work safely and maintain a safety-first culture. CDL Class A (preferred). Ability to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions.
