Position Overview:
The Product Development Engineer will play a key role in driving product innovation from concept through production release. This includes leading new product design initiatives, improving existing designs, and managing project timelines while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-driven engineer with proven strengths in leadership, collaboration, project and time management, 3D CAD / SolidWorks, and mechanical design.
Key Responsibilities: Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, from initial concept through production tooling release, including project scheduling, timeline tracking, and progress reporting. Translate sales and customer requirements into functional 3D CAD thermoformed product designs, complete with dimensional specifications and performance criteria. Design prototype tooling, including machined aluminum forming cavities and matched metal trim tooling, and oversee prototype trials, sample evaluations, and submissions. Collaborate with Tooling Engineering and Production teams to ensure designs are optimized for machining, manufacturability, and thermoforming processes. Conduct functional and dimensional evaluations of products to determine their impact on final performance for both LidWorks and customer-supplied items. Create and maintain product specifications and provide support during production startup. Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant experience required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical engineering role (plastics or product development experience preferred). Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD design, with SolidWorks experience required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Solid understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and product development processes. Familiarity with plastic product design standards (e.g., shrinkage, draft angles) and general machining methods is a plus. Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Benefits:
