Summary:
  • Serves as secretary to the principal and as facilitator for the school being served in communicating information, problem solving, material acquisition, record keeping, and registration.
Qualifications:
  • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate excellent office skills and practices. This includes, but is not limited to, being proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, general bookkeeping, organizational and filing skills, data management and information retrieval.
  • Possess a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills necessary to favorably meet and communicate with our school community.
  • Present evidence of a physical exam to determine"fit for duty", evidence of being free from communicable disease (TB), and submit to a criminal background check.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of school related tasks.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Successfully deal with problems involving different variables.
  • Get along with people and display patience to all school community members.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters.
  • Maintain school records, including student/staff attendance.
  • Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office.
  • Orders, processes, and maintain office materials and equipment.
  • Make announcements and operate school intercom systems.
  • Assist the Principal and designee and staff in handling interruptions and emergencies, calling for assistance when needed.
  • Administer basic first aid and administer medication when needed.
  • Orients substitute staff
  • Assist with arrival and dismissal including changes in transportation.
  • Assist with lunch routine and procedure.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior. Serve as a role model for the school community by demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and effective work ethic.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Evaluation:
  • Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
