Description
Assist with the daily operations of the Riverwalk Landing Docks and the security and maintenance of dock facilities to include the office, the docks, and equipment associated to the operation of the docks. Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the grounds adjacent to the docks to include landscaping and refuse collection/disposal. Performs minor repairs to equipment and facilities or notifies Dockmaster for other repairs. Collects and records fees associated to dock operations, obtains and provides information and assistance in a variety of circumstances, and responds to inquiries and complaints. Transports equipment, furniture and supplies, and assists with the set-up and take down of various events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires any equivalent combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and 1-2 years of closely related experience.
Good working knowledge of industrial housekeeping and boating and marina operations desired.
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with good driving record mandatory.
Must possess effective communication skills and have the ability to provide excellent customer service.
General knowledge of the historic Yorktown area streets and building locations, and the ability to provide directions to major points of interest desired.
General knowledge of personal computer software applications such as e-mail and Microsoft Office Suite desired.
Must possess a valid Virginia Boaters safety license, or ability to complete in first two weeks of employment.
Requires an acceptable criminal background check.
Supplemental Information
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to the usual hazards associated with outside maintenance.
Incumbent is expected to work flexible hours and is subject to being called in for work at varied hours and days, to include weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Work often involves heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) of furniture, and carrying of materials, bending, stooping, standing, and walking while performing moving and set-up activities or supply deliveries.
