How We LEAD:
The Manager, Royalty Accounting position at Virgin Music Group will play a key support and technical role in the administration of various financial and reporting system tasks pertaining to the monthly client distribution/participation cycles. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Royalty Accounting and will own certain distribution/royalty accounting functions, ensuring execution and continued alignment with the overall Finance department’s responsibilities, requirements, and goals.
How You'll CREATE:
- Assist with running monthly royalty cycles, ensuring accuracy in both inputs/outputs, client rate structures and other high-level calculations
- Manage tight monthly deadlines to ensure accurate sales reporting and accounting statement packages are delivered
- Lead and manage a team of 2-3 employees including assigning tasks, monitoring progress and ensuring timely completion of duties
- Work closely with overall Finance team to identify process improvements, communicate findings to stakeholders with recommendations for mitigation, and oversee implementation
- Assist with accounting statement and payment reconciliations
- Oversee advance payment process, ensuring accurate and timely payment based on contractual obligations
- Ensure timely receipt and accurate processing of reporting from physical and digital sales partners
- Work with UMG globally to maintain the accounting of international and domestic sales partners
- Help with month-end close and prepare recurring and ad-hoc analysis for internal/external reporting requirements
- Liaise with clients directly to answer any reporting or payment questions
Bring your VIBE:
- 5+ years’ experience in a distribution, participations, or royalty accounting role preferred
- Background in accounting and/or finance preferred
- Proficiency with MS-Office Suite and possess outstanding Excel skills (e.g. Nested Functions, V-Lookups, Pivot tables, etc.)
- SAP experience a plus
- Extremely detail-oriented, excellent planning and execution skills with a proven ability to establish and meet impactful goals and objectives
- Ability to handle multiple projects, deal with tight deadlines, and work independently
- Willingness to work outside normal responsibilities to achieve desired results
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
