Community Leadership Officer – Indianapolis Foundation

Central Indiana Community Foundation invites applications for the Community Leadership Officer (CLO) position in Indianapolis. The CLO will support and administer the grantmaking activities of the Indianapolis Foundation, focusing on youth and the arts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Grant Making and Analysis: Review and analyze grant proposals, conduct due diligence of potential grantees, prepare summaries and recommendations.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain knowledge of equity priorities, especially youth and the arts, stay informed on trends, provide insights.
  • Communication and Relationship Management: Serve as primary contact for grant applicants, foster relationships with grantees and nonprofits, coordinate internal‑external communication.
  • Support for Grantmaking Processes: Assist in developing grant materials, track submissions, participate in review meetings.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports and presentations, maintain accurate records, support analysis of funded projects.
  • Special Fund Support: Lead management of special funds such as the Summer Youth Program Fund, review applications, convene stakeholders.
  • Donor Support: Develop donor materials, provide due diligence for donor‑advised fund applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fine arts, social sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, professional demeanor.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with grant management software is a plus.
  • Passion for philanthropy, community engagement, racial equity, and social impact.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, willingness to travel locally.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for community events.
  • Knowledge of Indianapolis neighborhoods and arts‑based organizations is a plus.
