The Health Promotion Coordinator contributes to the overall health and wellbeing of SLCC students by providing evidence-based health promotion activities that add to life-long learning outcomes for student and knowledge of health practices on SLCC campuses through health promotion and harm reduction. Coordinators run weekly health programming and facilitate several other health promotion initiatives alongside the Health Promotion Manager. Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Experience planning and implementing health education programs and activities. Experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of evidence-based practices in health promotion, prevention or violence fields. Ability to research, develop and evaluate interventions that address the community's health needs. Demonstrate excellent presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and social media platforms. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing, with a variety of audiences. Knowledge of digital design programs such as Canva. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
This is a hybrid position. The Health Promotion Coordinator balances in-person work at the assigned campus and work from home appropriately based on the area's needs and event/programming schedule. Minimum qualifications
Associate degree, preferably in a health-related field. One (1) year of work experience in health promotion, substance abuse prevention, violence prevention, community engagement, or closely related field (intern, practicum or paid)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion and Education, Public Health, or closely related health field preferred. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred. Graphic Design experience preferred. Experience with student groups preferred.
